YAGO 36 - More of Everything |
|
For a long time I had been thinking about a larger Version of the Yago 31. In 2006 I got a commission for such a boat. Building will start beginning of '07 and we are continuously developing the details for this boat. With the same advantages of the internal ballast and high-aspect leeboards, she has a slightly more stretched hull, is faster and offers a lot more living space as well as load carrying capacity. The Rig, in this version, is planned as a bermudan sloop, with fully battened mainsail and a self-tacking jib. This is a very nice, easy to handle and performant option, but of course we could design other rig configurations. The cruising program is mostly the same as for the 31', but here you can live it up in style ;-) There is clearly more place for everything, and with the full width cabin the interior layout can be adapted to almost any crusing program. There is one difference to the 31' though, in that the hull has twin balanced balanced spade rudders for best performance and control when heeled or going downwind at high speed. the propeller is protected by a shallow keel stub, that can also be used for keel-cooling. The is an entirely new design, not just an upscaled version. The hull was recalculated and redrawn for the new design and is overall faster and more powerful than the smaller 31.Deck and sheerline keep the same lines and it clearly is a "Yago". There will be a full set of plans and construction drawings available at a very reasonable price. This boat can be built either as an origami hull or as a "classical" hard chine steel construction, and I will provide both versions of plans.
